A final glimpse of New York Fashion Week

After weeks of preparation and anticipation, Fashion Week has come and gone and its back to regular ol’ fashion blogging. In this week’s TWS I will elaborate more on Fashion Week during a recession and the era of a “fashion icon” First Lady, but until then, enjoy some photos taken around the tents. See, it really is a giant tent:

Crowds stand outside the tents waiting, day in, day out. Who are they expecting to see? I doubt many of them would recognize Diane von Furstenberg in the flesh, and many of the celebrities come in and out the backstage entrances.

Last season, Bryant Park’s Josephine Shaw Lowell Memorial Fountain was surrounded by designer “ruby slippers.” This season, the fountain featured larger-than-lifesize Barbie dolls, and real Barbie dolls from every decade of her skinny life.

Mercedes-Benz is still the major sponsor, hence, “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.”

Lastly, here is your blogger on the Salon runway! I’ll be the first to admit that this isn’t my most fashionable outfit of the week, and the entire ensemble looked much better with my black suede booties (with heels) and my coat. But you know what? It was Monday night and my feet hurt!

Stay tuned for final Fashion Week analysis later this week. I already can’t wait until September!
