London Fashion Week: Temperley London

About a week after celebrating her brand’s 10-year anniversary at London Fashion Week, designer Alice Temperley received a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) award from the Queen of England for her service to the fashion industry. Her label, Temperley London, is loved by women including London’s style-setters to New York’s polished editors to Hollywood’s starlets, and her feminine and wearable designs represent the best of British fashion. Since Kate Middleton has already publicly worn Temperley London, will this new award boost Alice’s chances of designing her wedding gown?

Although I didn’t get an invite to the show, I did get one to her after-party at London’s Groucho Club in Soho, a private club for individuals in the arts, publishing, film, music, and advertising. An eclectic crowd packed the club, and the candlelit back room had a distinct speakeasy feel as party-goers enjoyed Moscow Mules and celebrated Alice Temperley’s new collection of glamorous beaded gowns and lace and fringe accents reminiscent of the 1920s flapper era.
