London Fashion Week: Lee Klabin

As you’re probably aware, I have a crush on Lee Klabin’s luxurious ready-to-wear. In February, I again visited the Lee Klabin team, this year at the On/Off exhibition, which showcases some of London’s up-and-coming, and most innovative, designers via intimate catwalk shows and a cozy showroom.

While chatting with Lee Klabin and her spokeswoman, I learned that her third ready-to-wear collection was inspired by the effects of deforestation, with fabrics “stripped, shaved, and eroded away” to create a dark and powerful effect. As I wrote in my recent Weekly Standard story, the collection is more “grown up and angular” than Klabin’s past ones, while maintaining her signature feminine details.

Overall, the Fall 2011 collection screams luxury and, I covet the leather-adorned dresses and perfect cuts. It’s no wonder that the label is quickly expanding throughout the United Kingdom–and hopefully, we’ll see it in the United States soon, too.
