All for Milly and Milly for All

Good news for Milly lovers–especially D.C. girls who work in government or media and have a limited clothing budget. The Wall Street Journal reports that the brand’s designer Michelle Smith will permanently cut prices “10% below her usual range of $300 to $550 for dresses and $500 to $1,000 for coats.” Add a recession-induced sale or coupon code, and Milly dresses are suddenly affordable. Smith decided to cut prices because recent sales have been offering new items for as much as 70% off–and shoppers will be reluctant to go back. Will this become a trend? On the one hand, designers need to make a profit to stay in business and keep producing fantastic, unique collections. But on the other hand, contemporary lines are increasingly expensive and designers need buyers. Milly has found a happy medium.

The Milly fall collection “is inspired by ‘the (art) gallery girls of New York,’ which [Smith] describes as an ‘edgy, city-influenced style.’ Inspired by the optimism surrounding the inauguration, however, Ms. Smith says she decided to add some blouses in bright colors such as watermelon pink and use those same colors in the linings of darker pieces.” Um, can I have the whole line?

If you can’t wait until fall–or don’t see yourself dressing like a “gallery girl”–snatch up a Milly dress for spring since many are currently on sale! Milly has a collection for every type of girl, and each collection features top-quality coats and beautiful dresses. Who do you want to be?
